Born in 1965 in Riga. Violin at the music school, ethnomusicology at the Music Academy. After very serious studies proposal to work at the radio came as a chance to do what I really want to do – listen to the music and tell the other people what is worth to listen to. The first radio programme on ethno music – 1988. The first weekly world music programme – 1994. At the moment I have one world music programme „Odiseja” (Odyssey) per week – Friday morning 9.15 with replays on Friday evening 19.15, Saturday night 3.00 and Sunday evening 18.15. Alongside Gita already six years is in a team of the world music festival PORTA (www.festivalporta.lv). Mother of two daughters.
