I’m living in Belgium and for many years I’m working as public speaker, writer and radio host/reporter for VRT (Flemish Public Broadcasting). First for Radio 1, the information and news station (where I loved to host Club Tropical, joyful World Music with a party blink on friday night). Afterwoods for Canvas (tv channel for culture and documentary). And now, for more than 10 years, for Klara, a magnificent radio station for culture with classical Music, jazz and world, where I host Zanzibar, a weekly radio show with a wilde range of World Music: klezmer and flamenco, fado & Scandinavian, Irish and Persian roots Music, every Sunday night from 5 till 8 PM.
Klara is a small radio station with a very loyal and curious audience and with a fine impact on cultural life in Belgium. We broadcast special World Music shows like Zanzibar & Late Night World, but more and more other radio shows are dealing with World Music as well - isn’t that great.
I started to love world music in Amsterdam (Holland), where I worked in a theatre long time ago and where my friends took me to a lot of concerts in Paradiso and De Melkweg. Since that time I’m convinced that a lot of global Music can be food for the soul and an important integration tool in this global village world .
